He led the development of the Sharp LogiCook, the first microwave oven to incorporate neural networks. Born in Paris in 1957, Tarassenko studied at Keble College, Oxford.〔''Brick''〕 He was elected to a Fellowship of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) in 1996, and to a Fellowship〔 of the Royal Academy of Engineering〔 in 2000. He is a Fellow of St John's College, Oxford,〔''Brick''〕 and is a practising Christian. Tarassenko presented the 2012 Woolmer Lecture of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine.
